About Me
Assalamualaikum and hi everyone..
Firstly, I want to wish thank you to my lecturer who teach Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) subject because allowed me to introduce myself in this blog. Really am very grateful to introduce about myself to all. My name is Noor Farahah binti Roslan. My friends just simply call me as Farah and also Farabi .I am 22 years old and I am from Kedah.
Next, let me tell about my family backgrounds. My family consists of 7 members. My father's name is Roslan bin Ahmad and my mother's name is Siti Norliah binti Abd Wahab. Both of them are involving in business. I have three sisters and a younger brother. Two of my sisters are already married. The only one of my sister that not married yet just now starting her work at Sabah. I have completed my studied in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Labu Besar, Kedah on 2010. Currently, I further my study at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai in Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development. I am third year students and shall finish my study in 1 year more. Before this, my course mate and I were from UTM Kuala Lumpur. Then, we need to transfer to UTM Skudai in second year on third semester for some reasons.

I am flexible person but I also a short temper and can't adjust myself according to situation. I also cannot concentrate on one thing at a time and it ends up with delaying my work progress. I am interested in blogging and me always updating my blog from time to time. I already have my personal blog to write about myself and surrounding. That is all about me. I love study in UTM because of the surrounding and clean environment. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful opportunities.

Introduction to Human Resource Information Systems
Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) can be defined as integrated systems that be used to collect, store and analyze information about organization’s human resources. (Hedrickson, 2003).  As a briefly defined HRIS also is a tool that can be used to acquire, store, manipulate, analyze, retrieve and distribute information about organization’s human resources. (Tannenbaum,1990). According to Hedrickson, 2003, HRIS is not limited to the computer hardware and software applications but it also includes the people, procedures and data required to manage the HR function. The persons that usually use HRIS are Human Resource (HR) Professionals and Functional Managers.


Managing the Digital Firm.

According to Dr. Othman Alsalloum, digital firm is a general term to organization that enabled core business with workers, customers, suppliers and other external partners through digital networking. The purpose of digital firm is to digitally enable seamless integration and exchange within the information with worker and outside information to customers, suppliers and other external partners.
According to Mohan Thite & Michael J.Kavanagh, to maintain competitive in digital firm, organizations need to look further to create new ideas. Ideas from young generation can be accept to make the growth of the information economy growing. So, the introducing of new systems such as Information systems (IS) is crucial in business operation and financial and non-financial aspects includes decision making as a big role of management. Information Technology (IT) infrastructure is able to provide capabilities of defining, expanding and filling a particular segment. IT infrastructure consists of computer hardware, computer software, storage technology and communications technology. Besides, Internet helps people to socialize and access information, involves in discussions, supply information, find entertainment and exchange business transactions. The positive impacts of IS make companies enable to gain competitive and more efficient in business services. For the negative impacts, IS contributes to difficulties in manages the systems and also cause to health problems.

Information System for Competitive Advantages.
According to Mohan Thite & Michael J.Kavanagh, nowadays business world are exposed with information that emphasizes to information systems (IS). IS are using for collecting information to do a decisions making. Because of comprehensive changes in background of business, computer and internet are important to help organization to compete and survive. Competitive Advantage with information System includes Cost Strategies, Differentiation Strategies, Innovation Strategies, Growth Strategies, Alliance Strategies and Other Competitive Strategies.
Firstly, Cost strategies. According to Mahmood Hemmatfar, business organization produces products or services in same quality at the lowest costs. So, it can help customers or suppliers cut their costs. Secondly is Differentiation Strategy. According to Mohan Thite & Michael J.Kavanagh, to remain competitive, business proposed different features of products and services from their competitors. Thus, they can increase the prices because customers don’t have options to choose. Thirdly, Innovation Strategy. Innovation is process of adding value to existing products. Business operations identify new and unique products and services. They add on more characteristics in existing products to attract customer’s attention. So the products or services have more value and advantages from another services or products. Fourth, is Growth Strategy. It helps to raises up market share, acquire more customers, or sell more products. Expands company’s capacity support the business growth strategy. Diversify into new products or services also help business to facilitate growth. Last but not least, is Alliance strategy. In alliance strategy, business organization is cooperating with business partners in partnership, alliances with customers, suppliers, and other companies. This strategy helps to create synergy, allow companies to concentrate on their core business so directly it provides opportunities to growth.

According to Howard, 1999, he believed that if IS was design and strategy are addressed simultaneously, competitive advantage can be meeting. So, business organization needs to plan clearly their competitive strategies to make sure their organizations can survive and cope with current environment and situations.

On globalising HRIS : PART 1
According to Lodge (1993), globalization is a process forced by global flows of people, information, trade and capital. It is accelerated by technology, which is driven by a few hundred multinational corporations and gives injurious to environment. There lies in the guessing of whether it is wise to leave globalization in the hands of these few corporations, or might it not make more sense to seek greater involvement from the global community. Nowadays, HRIS are becoming global. According to Anne-Marie Kontakos, a lot of new and advances technology are introducing to the world and workplace today.
Globalization gives a lot of impacts to economy, and technology. For economy globalization, the rising of dependence to economy business now are happens. Firm and business are widely dispersed in foreign investment. Moreover, for technology globalization, technology will become sophisticated. According to Christopher Bartlett and Sumantra Ghoshal, they divide worldwide Organizational Models into four types such as multinational, global, international, and transnational. All of these models have a difference in degree of centralization, level of responsiveness to local issues, and its ability to leverage and share innovation and learning worldwide. Models-Multinational is a model that can suit the needs with the location. It is most sensitive to individual cultural and national differences. Second is Global Model. It is among the models are not flexible. It only minimizes the needs of local, national, and regional business units. Next is International Model. According to Karen Baeman & Alfred J.Walker, the model continues a sustaining of an original system but it still under control. It allows adapting and transfers to local but can continue the original ones. For Transnational HRIS, it is an integrated system and very flexible that can increase complexity, diversity and volatility. This models usually are using by big and large organization to developed particularly effective solution to settle the problems and shares with other units around the world.

Conclusion
In a nutshell, HRIS as integrated systems that be used to collect, store and analyze information about organization’s human resources give a lot of advantages to business organization and world. It helps organization and employees easy to doing their work. Besides, it also makes organization remain competitive and productive. IT facilities are helping more to organization to achieve their goals. Employee performance give impacts whether accomplishment or disaster of productivity to the firm. So, organization should provide sophisticated facilities and technologies to make employee easy to doing work.
The introducing of HRIS to workplace make organization can plan their activity systematically and effectively. The new ideas from young generation can improve organization performance. It is because young workers can collaborate with senior workers to generate new ideas. They sometimes renovate the ideas and add value on to their ideas. Thus, it can make the organization compete with global because they providing products and services that can make their suppliers and customers satisfied. The organization reflects good reputation directly can give effect to performance and at the same time can increase the motivation and commitment of employee. Information system makes organization easily meet their competitive advantage.
Furthermore, when organization joining and involve in boundary less business, foreign investment also attract with the business. The investment helps organization to achieve short-term and long-term targets. Moreover, Organizational Model also can be a guideline to organizational in doing strategic and operational planning. Organization need to aware of technological changing especially in IT and computer system. So, due to technological changing, it is important to undergo employee with proper training to make they adapt and cope with current situation. Due to fast pace global and technological development, challenges and competitive situation appears. More the developed employees, more they are satisfied. Thus, it directly increases the firm productivity and profitability
